Issaquah Valley Elementary School showed off its newly remodeled building Tuesday morning following a ribbon-cutting by Issaquah Mayor Fred Butler and other dignitaries.

The school’s 30-year-old open-style campus has been completely enclosed and has eight new classrooms and four small group breakout areas.

The administration area has been reconfigured to provide better visibility to enhance safety and security. Electronic locks have been installed at exterior doors to more easily secure exterior entry points. In addition, the commons, gymnasium and interior corridors have received new rubber flooring to reduce long term maintenance costs.

Many more features, designed with input from teachers and staff, will help to enhance the learning environment for students.
