Sammamish Arts Fair to bring residents, artists together this weeekend

Published 2:03 pm Tuesday, October 7, 2014

More than 30 artists will descend on Sammamish City Hall this weekend for the 8th annual Sammamish Arts Fair, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Oct. 11 and 12.

Free and open to the public, the fair promotes involvement and engagement by the artists.

“This is a unique experience,” Anne Randall, fair representative, said. “This is artist run. We get funding from the Arts Commission and other supporting organizations … but the artists stage, organize, do the promotion, we do all of the setup and execution. This is a neat experience for the participating artists to help them understand what goes into the creation of an art fair.”

While registration for the fair is free for the participating artists, they are required to contribute to the organization and execution of the fair, Randall said.

Half of the artists registered for this year’s fair are from Sammamish, Randall said, with the rest hailing from Issaquah and other surrounding communities.

The fair is sponsored by the city of Sammamish, the Sammamish Arts Commission, and 4Culture. Parking is free. Artists will be available to interact with patrons and sell their works. Rain or shine, the fair will be held indoors.
