Don’t forget to vote — ballots due Tuesday night

Nearly 24,000 Sammamish citizens — about 83 percent of the eligible voting population — have yet to cast their vote in the April 28 special election, according to King County’s most recent data.
A little more than 2,000 ballots from residents in the Klahanie area, about 34 percent of the eligible voting population, have already turned in their ballots, according to county data.
Voting ends Tuesday evening. A ballot drop off van will be stationed in front of Sammamish City Hall off of 228th Avenue Southeast from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
Sammamish residents can take part in an advisory vote meant to gauge how many residents want local initiative and referendum powers, which would give citizens limited power over some types of legislation.
Klahanie residents have the chance to weigh in on the Klahanie-Sammamish annexation vote, which will determine the future of nearly 11,000 residents.
Mail-in ballots must be postmarked by Tuesday. Ballots can also be turned in to any voting center or drop off van by 8 p.m. Tuesday.
Ballot results will be posted on the King County website starting Tuesday at 8:15 p.m.
Results will be continuously updated until May 12, when results are final.
