The city of Sammamish will welcome Klahanie-area residents with a party in the fall.
While they won’t officially be Sammamish residents until the first of the year, the city plans on throwing a “Welcome to Sammamish” celebration at Klahanie Park, near Challenger Elementary, Sept. 12 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The celebration will feature live music, four or five bouncy houses for children and four food trucks.
There will also be a tree-planting ceremony.
“We think planting a tree would be symbolic of the communities coming together,” said Janie Jackson, an administrative assistant in the parks and recreation department.
The tree is 15 feet tall.
The city expects a couple thousand people to attend.
“We hope all the neighborhoods in the annexation area will come out and join in the fun,” City Manager Ben Yazici said in a press release.
