Sammamish police began receiving phone calls about a man atop the Verizon Wireless retailer at the corner of Northeast Eighth Street and 228th Avenue Northeast.

It’s not often passers-by see a man sitting on a roof in Sammamish, aside from maybe construction crews working in up-and-coming housing developments.

Thursday afternoon, though, Sammamish police began receiving phone calls about a man atop the Verizon Wireless retailer at the corner of Northeast Eighth Street and 228th Avenue Northeast.

“He’s not a danger to himself or anyone else,” Sgt. Peter Horvath said Thursday.

And, as the tenets do not want to pursue trespassing charges, there is no crime to charge him with, he said.

“This is very odd,” Horvath noted.

So he will remain there, until he decides to come down — or until there’s a crime police can act on.

Police have already responded twice to the incident, Horvath said.
