Issaquah-Sammamish Reporter staff wins 5 journalism awards

Issaquah-Sammamish staff won five awards in the Better Newspaper Contest at the Washington Newspaper Publishers Association’s annual event on Oct. 15.

Former staff writer Megan Campbell won first place for Best General Feature Story, Short. She also won two second-place awards for Feature Writer of theYear and Best Government Reporting.

Sports writer Shaun Scott also won second place in Best Sports News Story.

Former staff writer Daniel Nash placed third for Best Special Section Cover for his front page design in The Eastside Scene, a monthly feature that publishesin the Issaquah-Sammamish Reporter.

Staff writer Nicole Jennings won first place in General Feature Story, Long for a story that was published in the La Conner Weekly, and staff writer JoeLivarchik took home a third-place award in Best Sports News Story for his sports coverage in Sound Publishing’s Mercer Island Reporter.

All in all, Sound Publishing publications brought home over 320 awards, with 118 of those being first place.
