King County Sheriff’s Office announced Tuesday a man was arrested for an assault case on a Redmond woman that occurred at Marymoor Park last August.

In a press release, detectives said a DNA match led to the identification of the suspect. Due to continued investigation into the case, police are releasing no further information.

The assault took place Aug. 5 at Marymoor Park. The 42-year-old woman was walking her dog on a trail near the 5100 block of Lake Sammamish Parkway NE around 7 p.m. when the suspect jumped out of nearby bushes and grabbed her.

The suspect punched the woman multiple times and dragged her into the tall grass east of the trail. The woman fought the suspect and yelled as he continued to strike her and attempted to strangle her.

A man walking on the trail nearby heard her yelling and went to investigate, with the suspect fleeing on foot into the bushes.
