More than 100 people gathered on Nov. 8 at City Hall on Sunset Way to rally in support of Special Counsel Robert Mueller who is leading the investigation of collusion between President Donald Trump’s 2016 campaign and the Russian government’s election interference.

On Wednesday, Nov. 7, President Trump asked U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions to resign. Sessions had recused himself from overseeing Mueller’s investigation. Trump has appointed Matthew Whitaker as acting attorney general. Whitaker has been critical of the Mueller investigation.

By Wednesday afternoon, there were multiple, nationwide calls for rallies in support of Mueller as fear grew over Whitaker potentially ending the investigation.

Rallies were scheduled to take place at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 8, and multiple rallies were held throughout the Eastside.
