Last week a troop of Sammamish Girl Scouts had an experience they will never forget.

Troop 41938 has spent the past few weeks raising donations of used towels for The Humane Society of Seattle and King County.

Faced with an uncertain funding future, the Humane Society is increasingly relying on the generosity of groups like the Girl Scouts to continue their mission of caring for animals and ensuring that animal companionship is accessible to all.

On Thursday of last week, the Girl Scouts delivered the towels in person, and fell in love with some of the cats and dogs that are housed at the society’s Bellevue shelter.

The Girl Scout Troop is very grateful for the support of The Reporter and all the people in the community who donated towels for the cause.

Not content with their efforts, the Girl Scouts have also been collecting socks for the residents of Tent City 4, the temporary encampment of homeless men and women which set up at the Issaquah Community Church recently.

To donate socks for the Girl Scouts, stop by The Reporter office at 1595 NW Gilman Blvd, Suite 6, and leave them in the collection bin in the front office.
