The Issaquah Rotary Club has selected two Liberty High School students as Students of the Month for January.

Jordan Thompson is a senior at Liberty High School. He is a member of the Associated Student Body (ASB) Leadership, Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA) and Link Crew.

His hobbies include baseball, golf, fishing and hanging out with friends. Thompson’s achievements are becoming varsity golf captain twice, junior varsity baseball captain, ASB vice president, homecoming king and junior class president. His future goals are to go to a 4-year university and pursue a career in landscape architecture.

Christina Cruz is a senior at Liberty High School. She was nominated by the Career/Technical Education department. She has a grade point average of 3.4.

Her instructor, Delores Leber said, “Adversity has become the impetus toward skyrocketing success for Christina Cruz.” Leber calls Cruz her most outstanding Child Development student in the past three years. Cruz’s future goal is to attend Bellevue College and pursue a career as an ultra sound technician.

Each month the Issaquah Rotary recognizes seniors from Liberty, Issaquah and Tiger Mountain Community High Schools. Students are selected by the designated department and are accompanied to lunch by the department chair or another teacher.
