Eastlake’s class of 2012 reflected on their many memories Tuesday night, but more than anything, the group focused on what’s next.

“Class of 2012 we did it,” said student body president Amanda Loth. “What will we do next?”

Faculty speaker Richard Belcher noted the class had an extra special meaning to him as they began kindergarten in 1999, the same year he started teaching at Eastlake.

He encouraged the class to not be a afraid to take chances as they take their next step in life.

“I think it’s important to realize that you should not be afraid to mistakes, don’t be afraid to fail,” he said. “We’re constantly told of life’s successes and that sure is important, but I also think it’s important to realize through failure we also gain a lot of character.”

More than 430 Eastlake students received diplomas — all ready to move on to their next endevours.

“Remember that we have the power to change the future,” said Midori Ng, class vice president.
