Exhibit to feature ‘Women of Persia’
Published 4:23 pm Monday, March 31, 2014
“Women of Persia,” an exhibition by artist Farshad Alamdari, will be presented by artEast from April 1 through May 30 by artEast.
“The Women of Persia series was inspired by the greatest influences in my life,” Alamdari said, “three amazing and extraordinary women – my mother, my wife, and my daughter. Collectively, they reflect a stirring cycle of survival, progress and triumph in the struggle for gender equality. These three women in my life humble and inspire me-and shaped the Women of Persia series.”
Alamdari added that the qualities that he sees emanating from the Women of Persia are in many ways “universal, embodying a constant force that defies the vagaries of history, politics, setbacks and injustice as women persist in nurturing a better, nobler human condition.”
An exhibition reception and artist talk will be held from 6-8 p.m. Saturday, April 19 at the artEast Gallery at Blakely Hall, 2550 N.E. Park Drive, Issaquah. A RSVP for the reception should be sent to Persia@arteast.org.
