Skyline sneaks past Eastlake, Issaquah wins big behind Vernia | Prep sports scoreboard

Baseball

Skyline 1 Eastlake 0

Jason Santiago scored the only run of the game for Skyline and pitcher Corbin Powers and the defense made it hold up, taking down Sammamish rival Eastlake 1-0.

It was the Wolves with a 7-2 advantage in this hit department, but Powers struck out four and walked only one while scattering six hits in the win. Drew Lunde picked up the save.

Josh Barokas worked a complete game two-hitter for Eastlake and was the hard-luck loser.

Issaquah 10 Inglemoor 1

Nik Sutherland had three base hits and Derek Chapman added two more as the Eagles picked up the blowout win, 10-1 over Inglemoor.

Justin Vernia got the start on the mound and worked a complete game (five inn.) one-hitter to earn the win.

The win pushed Issaquah to 4-3 in KingCo play on the year and only a half game behind Ballard for second place in the Crest.

Tyler Johnston scored four goals for Skyline in the loss.

Softball

Skyline 2 Eastlake 6

Mikel Charles picked up the win for the Wolves with a complete game performance, including ten strikeouts.

Eastlake trailed late before scoring five runs in the sixth to pull ahead.

Issaquah 4 Inglemoor 14

Heather Benjamin had a pair of base hits, scored two runs and knocked in another in the loss.
