Residents in the Sammamish neighborhoods of Trossachs, Montaine and Alderra a reporting an unusual sight: U-Haul trucks following UPS trucks and even seeing packages being transferred from the UPS truck to the U-Haul.
It’s just another sign of the growing number of deliveries that happen at this time of the year. According to UPS spokesman Dan McMackin, UPS has used rental trucks as needed for the past 40 years.
According to a story in the Providence Business Report in Providence, R.I., UPS is expecting to set a record for holiday deliveries this year, with the peak day on Dec. 22. That day it expects to deliver 34 million packages worldwide. It also expects that December will hit a record for worldwide delivery volume with more than 585 million packages delivered, an increase of 11 percent compared with last year.
