Thieves use mini-van to rob home in broad daylight

Thieves made off jewelry worth about $9,000, and two television sets totaling $4,000 in a brazen daytime robbery in Sammamish last Thursday.

According to the police report, a neighbor watched the thieves back an older model Chrysler mini-van into the victim’s garage on East Lake Sammamish Drive at about 3 p.m. on Jan. 29, but was not suspicious and thought that the van belonged to workmen.

When the victim returned home from work in the evening, however, her collection of jewelry, including gold and diamonds, was gone, as was a 56-inch plasma screen television, valued at $3,500.

Police obtained a number of finger prints from the scene, including sets from a table that is believed to have been moved by the thieves to remove the plasma television.

A hammer, belonging to the victim but usually kept in the garage, was also found lying nearby and police suspect it was used to remove the television.

They are hopeful that the finger prints and the description of the van will assist them in their case.
