Photo courtesy of Rick Edelman/Rick Edelman Photography                                Eastside Catholic Crusaders junior volleyball player Renee DePencier-Piñero was named the October female athlete of the month for the second annual MaxPreps High School Athlete of the Month award, which was presented by the United States Marine Corps on Nov. 8.                                “MaxPreps congratulates Renee DePencier-Piñero on being named high school athlete of the month,” MaxPreps Founder/President Andy Beal said in a press release. “High school sports are designed to build character and foster teamwork and a competitive spirit in our nation’s young people. The MaxPreps High School Athlete of the Month represents those outstanding qualities that make not just great athletes, but more importantly fine citizens. MaxPreps is proud to honor these fine student-athletes in collaboration with the United States Marine Corps.”                                Daniel Arcand of the Washington United States Marine Corps presented DePencier-Piñero with the MaxPreps Athlete of the Month trophy on Nov. 8 during a lunch assembly at Eastside Catholic School.

In boys action, Eastlake Wolves senior Nate Pendleton captured ninth place at the meet. Issaquah’s Luke George finished in 14th place. In the girls meet, Skyline’s Geneva Schlepp earned 15th place individually. Issaquah’s Kenna Clawson cruised to a 24th place finish and Issaquah senior Sami Corman nabbed 41st place. Schlepp, Corman, Clawson, George, Pendleton and Mount Si’s Joe Waskom are pictured in the above photo.
