King County workshops aim at keeping businesses safe in emergencies

King County Emergency Response Zone One and the State Homeland Security Preparedness Grant program is hosting a series of free, three-hour workshops to help small businesses prepare for a major crisis or disaster.

King County Emergency Response Zone One and the State Homeland Security Preparedness Grant program is hosting a series of free, three-hour workshops to help small businesses prepare for a major crisis or disaster.

The classes are for businesses with 50 or fewer employees.

Speakers and video presentations will discuss many simple and practical resources. There will also be table talks and exercises that will focus on steps that guide a small businesses on what to do in an emergency.

The workshops are scheduled for:

• Tuesday, Sept. 23: 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Bellevue Foursquare Church, 2015 Richards Road, Bellevue.

• Wednesday, Sept. 24: 9 a.m. to noon at the Evergreen Community Church, 3429 240th St. S.E., Bothell.

• Thursday, Sept. 25: 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the City Church 9051 132nd Ave. N.E., Kirkland.

The first 50 businesses to register will receive a free packet of printed resources and a DVD. Additional materials can be purchased onsite for $25.
