Access to lake will be a boon for residents

We all know that Sammamish is a special place because of the environment that surrounds us, including Lake Sammamish. And, while the lake trail has given more people the opportunity to enjoy view of the lake, access has been limited.

We all know that Sammamish is a special place because of the environment that surrounds us, including Lake Sammamish. And, while the lake trail has given more people the opportunity to enjoy view of the lake, access has been limited.

Years ago, when a very generous resident gifted our city a long slice of waterfront property to the city, the City Council began to plan for a waterfront park. While our property was a small piece of property, it was close to properties also assembled by the city of Redmond and King County for a waterfront park. Now, after discussion with both entities, a three-way partnership has been put together that can result in the creation of a waterfront park for residents to enjoy.

Plans are still in the making, but this waterfront park will provide an opportunity for residents and trail users to stop along the trail, have a picnic lunch, put their feet in the water, take a swim, catch a fish, launch a canoe or simply enjoy the wonderful lake view. We applaud the cities and the county for working together to give us access to our lake.
