An open letter to the business owners of Issaquah

The purpose of a buy local program, in whatever form it eventually takes, is to encourage a stronger local network of investment, jobs, products, ideas, wealth and opportunities.

Dear Issaquah business owner,

Sustainable Issaquah strives to inspire and promote citizen engagement, education, and action to strengthen our community’s economic, social and environmental vitality.

With that in mind, we are initiating our Sustainable Economy Initiative. The purpose of a buy local program, in whatever form it eventually takes, is to encourage a stronger local network of investment, jobs, products, ideas, wealth and opportunities.

By spending more of their shopping dollars in Issaquah, residents are supporting the local businesses whose profits stay here, and are used, in turn, to hire local staff, sell local products and invest in local infrastructure.

The difference will be seen in the vibrancy of the downtown area and other shopping areas, flourishing businesses, a healthy community, and a city growing stronger from within rather than leaking away its wealth into other centers across America and overseas.

We have developed a questionnaire at www.surveymonkey.com/s/issaquah, to learn about your business’ contribution to a local, sustainable economy. Your answers will allow us to highlight and promote your business, as part of our local economy network.

Please email us sustainableissaquah@gmail.com or call 206-853-8830 with any questions about the initiative or completing the questionnaire.
