Community comes to the rescue

Wow, did you ever help the Book Shelf Program with your front page article explaining its benefits and needs (“Book program is in danger of failing” - Issaquah Reporter, Friday, Dec. 5 2008).

Wow, did you ever help the Book Shelf Program with your front page article explaining its benefits and needs (“Book program is in danger of failing” – Issaquah Reporter, Friday, Dec. 5 2008).

What a wonderful and heartening response we had from the community!

Five people volunteered to help process books, six want to regularly distribute books at the Food Bank, two adults and one child gave monetary donations, and two individuals and one business donated books.

Given the current difficult economic times, the Friends of the Issaquah Library decided not to ask for business sponsorships at this time.

Instead they will augment this outpouring of community and use some of the funds they earned from their November book sale and other activities to help keep the program going.

Thanks to all the people who pulled together so that the program will begin on February 24!
