Klahanie trees

As a resident of Klahanie for 17 years, I can assure you that the issue of the trees was indeed presented to homeowners more than eight years ago repeatedly in Board meetings and in Klahanie news (“Wholesale tree removal raises concerns…The Reporter, June 11).

Unfortunately, in spite of the fact that the trees were causing both the street and the sidewalk to buckle, forcing King County to threaten our HOA with the possibility of no longer maintaining our roads and sidewalks, in spite of this the board of directors chose not to act on their responsibility to remove the trees. As a result, our sidewalks are dangerously buckled as are our roads.

The developer who planted the trees, knowing full well they were ill suited to such a small space, is the one responsible.

Although we too grieve the loss of the trees, it is necessary to save our sidewalks and roads for our safety. I am thankful that the current board is stepping up to this responsibility.
