Not all women support Palin

I read with interest John Carlson’s Sept. 12 commentary about Mrs. Palin. There are two sides to everything, and I would like to share why I would not vote for her for any reason.

First of all, I want you to know that I have been involved with teaching children and adults about wildlife for many years. I was a docent at Woodland Park Zoo for 20 years, so it is a topic about which I know something and have strong opinions.

I don’t care if she is attractive or intelligent, but I am concerned that she appears to know very little about world matters. But this is not the main reason I am so vehemently against her being our vice president.

Two vivid pictures and a telephone call have reinforced my stand that she is a person that is not worthy to be any kind of a role model for anyone. One picture is from a site that shows her with a gun in hand, a dead bloody moose, and one of her daughters watching her kneel down with her trophy.

The other shows the killing of wolves in Alaska. They shoot the adults near the den from vehicles and then rush in to shoot at the cubs in the den. Some are left dead and some nearly dead. These are people who are killing for sport, and she supports them with legislation. Wolves are needed to check the population of herbivores, they are not on this planet for target practice. I spoke today with a representative from the World Wildlife Fund and they verified this. Defenders of Wildlife also has a site that shows this brutality. It is fun for them, and painful to watch — recreational killing!

Palin also supports drilling for oil in her beloved Alaska at the expense of the wildlife there. No matter what she says, it will mean pipelines and will interfere with the wildlife. The oil available will not be even be available for almost a decade, and there may be very little oil there. The wildlife are already in jeopardy.

What kind of a woman does things like this? My guess it is a callous and insensitive one.

She is one that parades her children around like trophies. She appears to have no conscience about suffering, and I wonder what kind of a God she worships. Just because a woman has children does not make her either kind or sensitive toward life.

Please don’t judge us all, as many women do not support Palin for various reasons. We do not support her because she is callous and manipulative.
