Well done Joan

I enjoyed Joan Newman’s article (“Hard times indeed…The Reporter, June 18) about her interview of Donna Arndt and of life in Issaquah during the 1930s Great Depression.

I especially appreciated the vivid detail of everyday life in Issaquah during the ‘30s, even for the most seemingly casual events (such as walking down the street and hearing people’s radios through open house windows).

It provided a clear picture and thus a fuller understanding of life here then that you don’t always see in published histories.
