There’s something magical about twinkling lights during cold December nights — so much so that a race of one-upsmanship has brought about an amazing outdoor Christmas lights display in Klahanie.
According to local residents along Southeast 35th Place, the block has been privy to year after year of spectacular holiday light displays.
But this year, Joel Suezle and family at No. 24218 took matters into their own hands. Complete with flashing lights of every color running along the eves of the two-story house, trees and driveway, the display also includes an inflatable element: a trio of snowmen, Santa’s reindeer stable (with reindeer) and three inflatable Santas, either scaling the chimney or rocking in a hammock in a tropical repose.
Perhaps sensing defeat, or taking succor from the old axiom ‘If you can’t beam ’em, join ’em,’ a neighboring home simply shaped a strand of lights into a directional arrow and the word, in capital letters, “DITTO”.
