Grand Ridge students explore the beauty of art

For the past few weeks, the walls of Grand Ridge Elementary School in the Issaquah Highlands has been transformed into a bright and vibrant art gallery, with students hanging their works as part of the Reflections Art Program.

For the past few weeks, the walls of Grand Ridge Elementary School in the Issaquah Highlands has been transformed into a bright and vibrant art gallery, with students hanging their works as part of the Reflections Art Program.

Elsewhere in the school, students mined the creative part of their brain, coming up with stories and even writing their own music, all part of the same event.

The purpose of the program is to encourage students to create original works of art across a wide range of mediums, from works of fiction, short stories, and music composition, to photography, painting, computer-generated artwork, and even dance choreography.

All the works will be tied together by the theme “Beauty is…,” encouraging the artists to explore where they believe beauty lies in our world and our society.

Congratulations to Grand Ridge students Jadon Park, Isha Rudramurthy, Raj Kumar, Brent Wilson, Dil Thiagarajan, Sid Thiagarajan, Emma Huryn, Vandhana Manjo, Megana Shivakumar, Anna Jo and Faith Lee, whose works in painting, photography, music and literature were chosen to represent the school at the district level.

“We had a great showing this year and are very proud of the talent of the students in our school,” said organizer Theora Dalupan.

This year The Reporter will be visiting as many area schools as we can manage, to take photos of the Reflections entries and give much deserved exposure to the young artists in our community.
