Issaquah/Sammamish Reporter ladies pitch in for battle against breast cancer

Well done to The Reporter's very own April Smith, Renée Walden, and Donna Stearns, who earlier this month joined 13,000 locals at the Susan G. Komen Race for a Cure in Seattle.

Well done to The Reporter’s very own April Smith, Renée Walden, and Donna Stearns, who earlier this month joined 13,000 locals at the Susan G. Komen Race for a Cure in Seattle.

The annual event, which is growing in size and reputation every year, helped raise $1.7 million for breast cancer research. Breast cancer is the most prevalent cancer in the world today, with about 1.3 million people diagnosed annually. The exact cause of the disease is unknown, and at this time, there is no cure.

So when The Reporter team heard there was something they could do to help women all over the world, they didn’t hesitate to get involved.

“It was such a blast to walk with my girls and know that we are supporting a great cause that affects so many women especially here in the Northwest,” Reporter Publisher Renée Walden said. “We know our contribution will make a difference!”
