Kids’ Fair and Concert earns Seafair designation

The third annual Parkadilly, Issaquah Kids’ Fair and Concert is scheduled for July 22.

Parkadilly, Kids’ Concert and Fair at Lake Sammamish State Park, has been officially sanctioned as a Seafair community event, one of only a few on the Eastside.

Seafair has been a Northwest tradition since 1950 and includes 30-plus community events along with its 10 signature events including the Torchlight Parade and hydroplane races.

The third annual Parkadilly will return to Lake Sammamish State Park on July 22. Its association with Seafair will only add to the publicity surrounding Issaquah’s biggest summer family event. Last year, an estimated 3,000 people attended. Parkadilly is hosted by Friends of Lake Sammamish State Park. Virginia Mason Issaquah has returned as the title sponsor.

“It is exciting to have this acknowledgement from Seafair that Parkadilly has grown in significance in the family and community event arena,” said Jennifer Adut, executive director of the Friends group in a press release.

Planning for this year’s event is already well underway. The four hours of live children’s entertainment will include The Not Its, Recess Monkey and Gansango African Dance. Rhythms of India will be back by popular demand to lead a workshop in Bollywood dance, getting family members of all ages on their feet.

Also new this year, Parkadilly will have a petting zoo. A recycled art project engaging children in creating a salmon from recycled cans will join numerous other children’s activities.

Friends of Lake Sammamish State Park is currently accepting sponsors, kid-centric vendors and food concessionaires for Parkadilly. For information, contact director@flssp.org.
