A free performance of the Beijing rod puppet theater will be given at Lake Sammamish State Park in Issaquah at 6 p.m. Aug. 26.

The performance will be in the park’s kitchen shelter, at 2000 N.W. Sammamish Road. A Discover Pass won’t be required to attend the performance.

The show will be presented by Dragon Art Studio, a Portland, Ore.-based puppet theater, and the only professional Beijing rod puppet theater in North America. Puppeteers Yuqin Wang and Zhengli Xu were trained in China at the Beijing Puppet Theater and the Beijing Opera School. Their daughter, Brenda Xu, is the third member of the troupe.
