This week, 200 employees of the Bellevue-based Symetra Financial got out of their offices and into their communities to help paint, clean and landscape for 11 non-profit organizations, including Issaquah’s Village Theatre.

The annual Symetra Week of Service turns the spotlight onto the company’s employees and supports their involvement in their communities.

And it was Cathy Cooper’s commitment to the Village Theatre that led to the inclusion of the iconic structure in this year’s clean-up. Cooper, a Symetra employee and Redmond resident, regularly volunteers her time at the theatre ushering audience members and handing out programs, and it was her suggestion to include Village Theatre in this year’s week of service.

Other organizations to benefit from the volunteers’ toil were Girl Scout Camp River Ranch in Carnation, Hopelink Food Bank in Bellevue and Little Bit Therapeutic Riding Center in Woodinville.
