The art of India

Though city halls are not known as being places of great art and beauty, the City of Sammamish Arts Commissions is working to change that.

Though city halls are not known as being places of great art and beauty, the City of Sammamish Arts Commissions is working to change that.

“The Art of the Sari – A Photo Journey of Indian Artists and Textiles” is currently hanging at the city hall Commons Gallery.

The exhibition includes not only many examples of the famous Indian garment, the sari, but also a display of photographs of the country and its people, a small collection of religious figures, and Rangoli, a form of sand painting that is done with rice powder.

Art of the Sari will be on display until December, and The Reporter encourages all residents to check it out.
