The Northwest Art Center (NWAC) is pleased to present the 2011 Valley Art Show—now in its 6th year. NWAC is accepting submissions from Monday, May 2-May 4. This juried art show is free to enter and artists are welcome to sell their art with 100 percent of the proceeds going to the artist. The artwork will be judged and then installed for public display in businesses throughout downtown Duvall from May 21 to June 4. Submissions from adults and youth are welcome. SUN The Sacred Music Chorale will present a spring concert at 3 p.m., Sunday, May 15 at First Presbyterian Church featuring a variety of classic spirituals and John Rutter’s “Requiem in seven movements” with organ and orchestral accompaniment. 5th Avenue Theatre’s Adventure Musical Theatre (AMT) touring company offers free presentation (to all museum ticket-holders) of its newest production, “Rosie the Riveter” to families and children visiting The Museum of Flight at 2 p.m., April 23. Normally reserved for classroom performances, AMT is thrilled to offer a public performance of this inspiring and meaningful show developed in partnership with Washington Women. ACT theater brings to stage a host of performances for the month of May! “Vanities: A New Musical” concludes its run, as ACT’s next Mainstage production starts, Neil Simon’s comic portrait of urban angst, “The Prisoner of Second Avenue.” Staged readings, Short Stories Live at Town Hall RAWSTOCK Short Film Festival, Hedgebrook’s Women Playwrights Festival, and a fundraiser concert for the Japanese Red Cross Society are scheduled throughout May.
