2 ‘budding’ products to tackle stressful times

Neighborhood retailer builds relationships with customers to help meet their needs

Surprising no one, the cannabis industry has been booming as people cope with the stress of a global pandemic.

Jakob Miller, general manager at The Green Door in Seattle, saw a surge in demand when shelter-in-place orders first came into effect.

“After the initial spike, sales leveled off for a while, but then it spiked again and we’ve stayed very busy,” he says.

With more than a decade in the medical marijuana market, The Green Door is a trusted source for expert advice. The different consumption methods and wide-ranging effects can make the world of cannabis daunting, and Miller believes there’s something for everybody. But you’ll feel the real Green Door difference on your second visit to the store.

“We really enjoy cultivating longer-lasting customer relationships, so when we see you a month later, we can ask ‘How’s that injury doing? Did you get that job? How did that heavy indica work for you?’” Miller says. “We have some loyal medical patients who’ve been with us a long time — they’re the glue of this place.”

During this stressful time, the staff at The Green Door want to reach out to customers old and new, and help them with their “hibernation,” as Miller calls it. Whether you’re a first-time medical patient, a casual recreational user or a longtime patron of The Green Door, Miller and the budtender team are here for you.

Timely topics: Budtender’s choice

The Green Door has a broad range and eclectic mix of hard-to-find cannabis products, so a chat with a budtender is the best way to get the right mix for your needs. When it comes to surviving the stress of sheltering in place, two products immediately come to Miller’s mind.

  • RSO Skagit Organics: “It’s sublingual, so absorbed under the tongue, and is really great for relieving stress. I highly recommend it for medical patients,” Miller says. RSO stands for Rick Simpson Oil, named after a cancer patient who experienced great success with the cannabis oil.
  • Sweet Thang by Western Cultured: “Western Cultured is a grower we all love here. They’ve been consistent across the board and their strain Sweet Thang is great for stress relief,” Miller says. “You could be having the worst day ever and then Sweet Thang will make everything good as gold.”
