13 file for Sammamish City Council, 4 file for Lake Washington School Board

4 file for local water districts

Thirteen Sammamish residents filed to run for positions on the City Council and four have filed for the Lake Washington School board, according to the King County Elections website as of the May 19 filing deadline. Additionally, there are two seats up for election on both of Sammamish’s local water districts.

Three of the four City Council positions up for election — positions 3, 5 and 7 — and one school board position — District 3 — will see a primary in August to narrow the field to two each before the November general election.

None of the sitting City Council members will run for re-election. This is also the first time residents from the Klahanie neighborhood, which was annexed by the city of Sammamish in 2016, can run for local office.

Jason Ritchie and Mark Baughman will run for City Council Position 1. Miki Mullor withdrew after the filing deadline. Councilmember Kathleen Huckabay currently holds the position, but she announced earlier this year that she will not seek re-election.

John Robinson, Melanie Curtright, Pam Stuart and Roger Chapanis will run for City Council Position 7. Councilmember Tom Odell currently holds the seat, but he will not seek re-election.

School board

Christian Cahua, Anita Damjanovic and Cassandra Sage will run for Lake Washington School District Director District 3. Board member Nancy Bernard currently holds the position but will not seek re-election.

Incumbent Mark Stuart, Director District 4, will seek re-election unopposed.
