Early results have been reported in the 5th Legislative District races from the Aug. 4 primary election.
This summer’s election for the Washington state Legislature was unusual, as Republicans largely opted not to run in a district which has historically sent representatives to Olympia. The district’s Senate seat and two House seats are up for grabs in November.
As of Tuesday evening, Bill Ramos (D), incumbent for the 1st House seat, had secured 61 percent of the vote. He was out-performing Ken Moninski (R), who had gained 33.94 percent, and Cyrus Krohn (Unity Restoration Party), at 4.85 percent.
In the 2nd House seat, incumbent Lisa Callan (D) was running unopposed.
The Senate race this year featured an intraparty campaign between incumbent Mark Mullett (D) and Ingrid Anderson (D). Mullett had received 47.05 percent of the vote compared to Anderson’s 48.4 percent.
