Eight Sammamish businesses were busted June 1 for furnishing alcohol to a minor during a sting operation conducted by the Washington State Liquor Control Board and Sammamish Police.

Of those, six were handled by the Sammamish Police Department because they had limited infractions.

The other two were handled by the Liquor Control Board because the businesses were repeat offenders. Those businesses were not listed on the police report.

The six businesses cited for infractions were Safeway (630 228th Ave.), Ristorante Simone (22850 NE Eighth St.), August Moon (2904 228th Ave. SE), Rite Aid (3066 Issaquah Pine Lake Road SE), 7-Eleven (3302 East Lake Sammamish Parkway SE) and Lamponi Thai Restaurant (22639 NE Inglewood Hill Road).

In each instance, the party responsible for selling the alcohol to the minor was arrested and released. Officers didn’t use handcuffs in any of the arrests in order not to disrupt normal business.

In all, officers visited 21 businesses — meaning 62 percent of those visited followed state law.
