A grand celebration in Sammamish

Thousands gathered last Thursday in Sammamish for the seventh annual Fourth on the Plateau.

The event, which was held under mostly clear skies, featured several children’s activities, food booths and live musical performances before the grand finale — a $25,000 fireworks display.

Because the event has multiple points of entry and is free to the public, it was hard to nail down an exact number of attendees, but officials have estimated the average to be close 10,000 in previous years.

“It was a beautiful day and the event was very well attended,” said Joanna Puthoff, event organizer. “The attendance was pretty much equal with what we have seen during previous years.”
