A great community story comes to an end – volunteers needed to farewell Tent City

Three months ago, the people of Issaquah opened their collective arms wide to welcome the homeless men and women of Tent City 4 to their new temporary home on the grounds of the Issaquah Community Church.

Three months ago, the people of Issaquah opened their collective arms wide to welcome the homeless men and women of Tent City 4 to their new temporary home on the grounds of the Issaquah Community Church. Their stay here demonstrated the enormous generosity of the local community, with offers of support and donations exceeding the wildest expectations of organizers.

After three months in the car park of the church, the homeless encampment Tent City 4 is leaving Issaquah and moving to Lake Washington United Methodist Church in Kirkland.

This Saturday, April 24, volunteers are needed at the Community Church at 205 Mountain Park Blvd. SW in Issaquah, to help break the camp down and load materials onto trucks.

The work will begin at 8 a.m. and should wrap up between noon and 1 p.m.

Even if you can only help for 1 or 2 hours, your assistance will be most welcome.

Volunteers should bring work gloves and a hammer and/or crowbar, to help disassemble the wooden platforms that the tents sit on.

Throughout the morning there will also be opportunities for volunteers to transport Tent City 4 residents to their new home in Kirkland.

Those wishing to help can just show up on Saturday morning, or contact Paul Winterstein at pwinterstein.tc4@gmail.com for more information.
