Four young students from Beaver Lake Middle School, Cynthis Wong, Vidhi Singh, Jenny Yang and Courtney Crocker – aka “The Four Green Electric Monkeys” – were some of the local students who flew the flag for Sammamish at the Destination Imagination (DI) Washington State Tournament in Wenatchee on March 27.

The Monkeys won a State Renaissance Award for creative and outstanding engineering for their DI Bot design. DI is a program of learning and competition that builds creativity, problem solving and teamwork skills.

Really shining brightly at the state tournament was “The Light Brothers” – Beaver Lake students Pratik Vaidya, Spencer Pfaff, Charles Blondino, and McNair Shaw. They took first place in the “DIrect DIposit” challenge. The Light Brothers will now represent the entire state at the Global tournament in Tennessee later this year.
