King County honored four schools this week for engaging students and staff in conservation acts with its Green Schools Program.

With help from the city of Issaquah, the school started collecting food scraps in the cafeteria. Those scraps were then sent as compost to the nearby Cedar Grove facility.

A group of third graders, called the Green Team, helped trained young students on how to properly sort recyclable materials from garbage.

Other schools recognized were Renton Park Elementary, Chestnut Hill Academy and the Jewish Day School.
