Eastside Fire and Rescue issued a burn ban on certain types of open fires until Sept. 30, when the dry season ends.

While the spring has been wet, soon enough the weather is expected to warm up and dry out.

EFR responded to 14 brush fires between May 1 and June 15.

While gas and charcoal fires don’t require a burn permit, cooking and recreation fires should only be about 3-feet wide and 2-feet high and be built with dry seasoned wood.

The seasonal burn ban, which was introduced in July 2008, only applies to areas within Eastside Fire and Rescue.
