Sammamish police believe they nabbed three Christmas-day burglars who they think are responsible for several break ins.

A 34-year-old Everett man and a 32-year-old Issaquah woman are in jail pending $10,000 and $50,000 warrants, according to a Sammamish Police press release.

The burglars hit a home on Christmas Day, breaking the glass on the front door with a sling shot to gain entry. The thieves took jewelry and cash from the home, before the family returned that afternoon.

Police staked out a Klahanie apartment where they thought the thieves were holding the stolen property, when they recognized a driver who had a suspended license. They arrested him and searched his car, where they found steel ball bearings similar to those at the scene of the break-in and some woman’s jewelry.

When the victims identified the jewelry as their own, police got warrants for the apartment and a storage unit, where they recovered thousands of dollars in power tools and jewelry. The recovered items have been linked to at least four burglaries so far.

The King County Prosecutor’s office expects to press charges Friday.
