City seeks volunteers for several boards and commissions

The Issaquah City Clerk’s office announced several openings on a number of city boards and commissions.

According to City Clerk Tina Eggers, volunteer service on behalf of the city can be a fun and interesting way to make a difference in Issaquah. Several boards and commissions, which work on everything from the arts to planning policies, have openings for new members:

• Arts Commission

• Cable TV Commission

• Cemetery Board

• Civil Service Commission

• Development Commission

• Human Services Commission

• Library Board

• Park Board

• Planning Policy Commission

• River and Streams Board

• Sister Cities Commission

• Urban Village Development Commission

A signed and completed application and Volunteer Service Agreement form must be submitted by 5 p.m., Jan. 22, 2010. Following an interview process, appointments are made by the Mayor and confirmed by the City Council in April 2010. Terms begin in May. The Mayor carefully selects her appointments to ensure each board and commission is a diversified and balanced group. The City encourages anyone who is interested to apply for a position.
