‘Corks and Forks’ returns

Do you like to be rewarded for being charitable with, let’s say, chorizo-stuffed dates wrapped in crispy prosciutto? Is your idea of a great fundraising party one that includes lemon and shortbread cubes with cranberry coulis and dried sour cherries, and hand dipped chocolate truffles?

Is your idea of a great fundraising party one that includes lemon and shortbread cubes with cranberry coulis and dried sour cherries, and hand dipped chocolate truffles?

If it is, then you you’ll love that the Issaquah Highlands Wine Club and Cooking Club are getting together for their second annual “Corks and Forks” Holiday Party to benefit the Issaquah Food Bank, on Friday, Nov. 13.

The timing of the event couldn’t be better, with the Issaquah Food Bank one of many local charitable agencies struggling to keep providing those in need during the economic downturn. The people of the Issaquah Highlands are rising to the challenge.

“Last year we raised $1,200 in contributions and collected over 300 lbs of food donations for the food bank,” said co-organizer Jennifer Jedda. “This year we hope to raise even more.”

The event will feature catered appetizers, wine donated by Zeek’s Pizza, and a silent auction which will feature items from Village Theater, Sip, WineStyles, Agave Cocina, Whole Foods, local artist Kurt Rodenhiser, QFC, and Isabella Grace and Sheridan wineries.

Net proceeds from the silent auction, as well as ticket sales, will be donated to the Issaquah Food Bank.

Attendees will again be asked to bring food donations.

“Ticket prices this year will be $30, and hopefully we can get a great crowd of more than 60 to come along, enjoy great food and wine, and help out the food bank,” Jedda said.

So the chef knows how many to cook for, please RSVP by Monday, Nov 9.

“Corks and Forks” will get underway at 7 p.m., at Blakely Hall, 2550 NE Park Drive, in the Highlands.
