For the sixth year in a row, the Rotary Club of Sammamish will award scholarships to local high school seniors.

Applications are available now at www.sammamishrotary.org.

Completed applications must be received by the student’s high school counseling office or the Rotary Club of Sammamish mail box by March 25 to be considered.

Seniors from Eastlake, Eastside Catholic, and Skyline high schools, and home-schooled students in an accredited program, are eligible if they intend to attend any accredited university, college, community college, or vocational/technical institute beginning in the fall of 2010.

The following criteria will be used to determine the awards:

• Involvement and service in school and community service organizations.

• Statement of how the candidate intends to fund his/her education.

• Academic excellence.

• Character, integrity, initiative and other personal qualities.

All Sammamish high school seniors who meet the criteria are encouraged to apply.

Since the program started, 30 Sammamish students have received scholarships.

In 2009 the club awarded scholarships to 11 seniors, contributing a total of $20,000 toward their college education.

Primary funding for scholarships comes from the club’s Nightmare at Beaver Lake community event.
