Families brought their young ones to scamper into mail trucks, fire engines, excavators and more at the 2016 Rig-A-Palooza event at the Sammamish Commons Plaza Saturday.

The event, in its second year, was inspired by a child’s curiosity and need to touch everything. The Sammamish Parks and Recreation Department invited children and families out for an afternoon of discovery, learning how the city of Sammamish keeps its “city safe, clean and FUN-ctioning,” according to a city announcement.

Children ran through bouncy houses and others took time out to snack near the food trucks.

Many continued down the to the newly opened Sammamish Community and Aquatic Center/YMCA, which sits west of the Sammamish Library and City Hall. The center’s grand opening Saturday morning coincided with Rig-A-Palooza.
