Brad Malloy, Eastlake High School’s principal, resigned on Feb. 11 due to “personal reasons,” he said in a letter addressed to the Eastlake community.

Traci Pierce, the Superintendent of the Lake Washington School District, tried to put various rumors to rest when she addressed the community in an informal letter.

“The message that Brad decided to resign from his position in the district for personal reasons is in fact the whole story. This is truly the case in this situation. I acknowledge that this decision and announcement was sudden, and it is unusual for an administrator to resign mid-year. I know that ‘personal reasons’ does not provide detailed information to parents; however, as an employer, we want to honor and respect Brad’s wish and right for privacy,” Pierce said.

Eastlake sources said they could not give much information on the matter. Eastlake’s Associate Principal Chris Bede will act as the interim principal until spring when they go through the process of hiring a permanent replacement.
