Eastside Catholic School announced late Thursday on its website that it will be closed on Friday in order to evaluate its security.

The announcement came one day after Skyline High School, located less than a mile south of ECS, received a threat of a mass shooting on an Internet message board.

According to King 5 News, Eastside Catholic’s decision to close wasn’t based on a threat. Instead the school wanted to provide a thorough security and safety assessment of the campus

Eastside Catholic’s football game against Bainbridge has been moved from Friday to Saturday.

Skyline will reopen Friday on a late-start schedule with classes scheduled to start at 9:55 a.m. Parents with safety concerns are invited to come at 8:30 a.m. to the Olympic Gym on the SHS campus.
