Swedish Hospital in Issaquah has been recognized by Eastside Fire &b Rescue for the good work it provides by way of inoculating the agency’s work force.

The “Friends of EF&R” award recognizes extraordinary service by community members and organizations that have been instrumental in helping EF&R accomplish the Agency mission.

Over the last few years, Swedish Hospital staff has provided seasonal flu vaccinations, and TB testing to Eastside Fire & Rescue at no charge.

“Staff time and all materials have saved the agency several thousands of dollars, which couldn’t have come at a better time,” said Fire Chief Lee Soptich.

While there may be several reasons why the agency is a benefactor of their generosity, the representatives of Swedish noted having a close relationship with the responders and the desire on the part of the hospital to do what they can to help keep all members of the community healthy.

Swedish Issaquah Emergency Room (ER) Clinical Supervisor, Anne Neethling, was presented with a plaque on Jan. 13.
