EF&R respond to Hilton Garden Inn fire early Saturday morning

The fire caused by an air conditioning malfunction was quickly put out around 2 a.m., according to EF&R Deputy Chief Bud Backer.

Eastside Fire & Rescue responded to a fire at the Hilton Garden Inn in Issaquah early Saturday morning.

An electrical issue in an air conditioning unit caused a lot of smoke and was contained in to a guest room on the fourth floor shortly after crews arrived, according to EF&R Deputy Chief Bud Backer.

The elderly woman staying in the room and another woman were taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation, Backer said. The fire was extinguished quickly.

The initial call came in at 1:08 a.m. Crews were on scene at 1:12 a.m. and left around 2:20 a.m.

Six engines responded to the fire. Bellevue Fire Department assisted.
