Erik Luden waives right to speedy murder trial

A 24-year-old Pullman man accused of murdering his father, a Sammamish resident, waived his right to a speedy trial in the Whitman County Superior Court Friday, July 11, the Pullman Daily News reported.

A 24-year-old Pullman man accused of murdering his father, a Sammamish resident, waived his right to a speedy trial in the Whitman County Superior Court Friday, July 11, the Pullman Daily News reported.

Erik Luden faces one count of second-degree murder for his alleged role in the death of Virgil Luden, 58, May 30. The elder Luden was a longtime Sammamish businessman.

Pullman authorities had responded to Erik Luden’s 911 call, where he reportedly told dispatchers his father had attacked him with a kitchen knife. The younger Luden said he fought back, hitting his father over the head with a kitchen pot.

Luden first appeared in court June 1.
